Frederick Kettle

Frederick “Rick” Dean Kettle passed away, surrounded by family, Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Vernon Hospice House after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Rick was born in Windsor, Ontario on October 22, 1946.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Ruby of Kingsville, Ontario; son London (Michiyo) of Hokkaido, Japan; wife Wilma and daughter Ariel of Armstrong. Rick will be deeply missed by his brother William (Cathy) of Indian River, Ontario, nieces, nephews and extended family members. Predeceased by father Glen in 1971.

Rick worked as a letter carrier for Canada Post for over thirty years. In 1989 he transferred from Ontario to Vernon, where he worked until 2005. Rick was an incredibly energetic and creative man. This was displayed in all aspects of his life, from his love of the outdoors, to his video taping, and home improvement talents as well as various business endeavours. He will be best remembered for his winning “Hand in the Pot” surprise video on Americas Funniest Home Videos in March 1991.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, Armstrong. Pastor Don Reeve officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rick may be made to Vernon Hospice House, 3506 – 27
