March 15, 1933 – Oct. 16, 2007
Florence was born in North Vancouver. She was raised by her loving parents Neil and Isabella (nee Carnegie) and was the youngest of eight children: Ivy (predeceased), Gordy (predeceased), Hugh (predeceased), Chris (pre-deceased), Margie, Jessie and George. Florence met her then future husband Frank Smith (predeceased) in the late 40s and the two were married on November 24, 1956. They raised and are survived by four loving sons: Randy, Blair, Greg and Mark. Florence worked at the telephone company and the Totem Theatre in North Vancouver as well as the Odeon Theatre, Dallards and Hollyburn Pharmacy in West Vancouver. Florence was a member of the Cariboo Quilters Club and the Nicola Valley Quilt Guild. Her passion, love and expertise showed in all of her quilting projects. Florence lived her life together with Frank in North Vancouver, Lions Bay, Sunshine Coast, 100 Mile House, Kamloops and Merritt. Along the way Flo made many friends, some extremely close (you know who you are). Due to her kind, loving nature and enormous heart. Florence had an incredible love for all animals and wild-life, especially hummingbirds. However, her old pal “Buckie” with whom she is now reunited, truly stole her heart. Oh! How she loved that dog. Florence is deeply missed by all of her family an friends. Her memory will live forever in all of our hearts. Rest in peace, Mom, we love you. Watch out Dad! She’s coming to “Box your ears.”
