EVA MARILYNN RAHIER (nee McConnell)
October 18, 1936 – October 1, 2016
Eva was born at Biggar, Saskatchewan October 18, 1936. She spent her early years in the country south of North Battleford where she attended school, then moved to the town of Cando, where she worked in the telephone exchange and the Red & White store at the age of 13. Later she moved to Saskatoon, where she was employed by Safeway for many years. Here she met George and they were married in 1961. Since he was out of town most of the time and with four small children, they decided to move to BC where he was offered work with the telephone company that would keep him mostly at home. They moved to Revelstoke in 1965, then in 1967 to Penticton. Here she again was employed with the major grocery stores and retired in 1989. Then, spending the summers on an acreage in Saskatchewan where George previously had planned on retiring to, she helped in the building of a cabin, fencing the property and driving a grain truck. She loved her flower beds and gardening. Eva was also an amateur photographer and won many prizes for her pictures in local papers and exhibitions. Her greeting cards were also locally sold. Eva was a kind, generous, thoughtful, interesting, hard-working, fun and truly special woman to anyone blessed enough to know her. Health issues were getting to be a problem and she was unable to attend the farm this past summer. After being hospitalized once again, she decided, there had to be something better than suffering and pain. So with her loving husband and children surrounding her, she let herself into the hands of God seventeen days short of her 80th birthday. She leaves to mourn her loving husband George; children, Gregory (April), Wendy, Brenda and Blaine; grandchildren, Ben (Shawna), Adam, Rachel (Daniel), Taylor, Richard (Janessa) and Brenna. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Mary McConnell and daughter, Cindy Lynn. We’d like to extend warm thanks for all the gestures of kindness and caring over the past several weeks to many of the staff and residents of Westview Place North. We’d also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Elizabeth Watters and Dr. Jeff Marschall for always treating her with genuine concern and respect.
A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, October 22

donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society.
