It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Dear Dad & Grandpa Ernie Fridlington on Tuesday February 22, 2011 (Mom’s birthday) in the G.R. Baker hospital at the age of 94.
Ernie was born in Virden Manitoba on September 16, 1916 to Fred & Mary Fridlington. They lived there until 1921 when the family moved to Kelowna B.C. In 1922 they moved to Vancouver where they owned their own store. They spent some time in San Francisco before moving back to Manitoba in 1927 for a short period of time then returned to Aldergrove B.C. where they dairy farmed until 1936. They made their move to the Cariboo purchasing the Carin Site at Alexandria where they lived and farmed for 15 years before purchasing The Kersley Ranch at Kersley in 1951. In 1954 Ernie met Mary and on October 27, 1955 they were married making Kersley their home. Ernie and Mary had 3 children Alan (Bonnie), Joan (Dale) and Norma (Danny) as well as 8 grandchildren, A.J., Amy, D.J., Kelsey, Matthew, Chelsea, Raylene and Jessica who Grandpa was very proud of. Ernie & Mary celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on October 27, 2009.
Ernie still called the ranch home as he lived there on his own until his passing. Ernie is pre-deceased by Mary only 9 short months ago as well as his parents Fred & Mary.
A huge thank you to Bonnie for all that you have done, helping to care for Mom & Dad for many years. It is truly appreciated.
A thank you to Wilf Smith for the eulogy. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Walker & Dr. Aziz and the Nursing Staff at GR Baker for all their care and kindness given to Ernie.
We would also like to send a special thank you for two of Dad’s dear friends Joyce and Betty-Lou and their families for their caring, kindness and thoughtfulness.
Thank you to Clayton’s Funeral Home for your care and compassion during this very difficult time, also to Rev. Ron Malmas for the wonderful service and the Kersley Women’s Institute for the luncheon.
Alan, Joan, Norma and Families.
