Grassick, Eric “Rick” Stacy.

April 13, 1955 – June 28, 2017

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of Rick Grassick on June 28, 2017 in Kelowna BC.

Rick is survived by his loving wife Heather, and his beloved children Sophie and Stirling. He is also survived by his mom Theresa Grassick, brothers Daniel and David, as well as niece Terri and many other extended family and friends.  Rick is predeceased by his dad “Doc” Kiehlbach.  He also leaves behind his cherished kitties, Jack and Bandit.

Rick’s natural intelligence, intuitive understanding of various mechanical systems, and skill using a variety of tools made him the ultimate handyman. He could repair vehicles, household appliances, HVAC systems, and nearly anything else that required fixing. From home renovations to children’s play structures, the things Rick built showcased his creativity and attention to detail. During the countless hours they spent working together in their home workshop, he passed much of this knowledge on to Sophie and Stirling.

Those close to Rick knew very well of his deep love for animals and nature. He spent a great deal of his free time researching environmental organizations and exploring ways in which he could contribute to animal conservation initiatives. Rick’s passion in this area is second only to his unconditional love for his two kids.

Being a great dad was the number one priority in Rick’s life. Throughout their childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, he consistently went above and beyond for his children. Rick became known for the extraordinary birthday parties he planned for Sophie and Stirling when they were kids. Rick will be forever remembered as the most compassionate, supportive, and loving dad any child could wish for.

A private family celebration of life will be held in Victoria, BC., at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Warren Peace Bunny Sanctuary in Lake Country BC.  Rick had the pleasure of meeting Annie and was inspired by her tireless commitment to saving all manner of furry and feathered critters.
