Dorothy June Harper, aged 86 years, passed away at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Sunday, February 10, 2008. Dorothy was born November 21, 1921 at Whitelaw, Alberta. She lived at for a time at Port Alberni then in 1955 moved to Maple Ridge (Haney) where she raised her children and met James “Jay” Harper in 1962. Dorothy and Jay moved to Armstrong in 1973 and have resided here since. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by husband Jay; son Jim (Nancy) Jarmson; daughters Bonnie (Bill) Little and Judy (Jim) Heaton; six grandchildren Chuck (Cheryl) Little, Lorri (Greg) McLean, Kris (Carly) Little, Lesley (Don) MacSorley, Shelley (Gil) Reubens and Gina Getson (Craig Galbraith); great grandchildren Amy, Ashley, Grady, Jolene, Kylie, Mckenna, Delaney, Griffen, Melvin and Carter; sister Doris Weatherly; several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Dorothy was predeceased by parents Lurie and Henry Davis, eight siblings; first husband James Jarmson and great grandson Brian Little. Dorothy was a long time employee of the Haney Gazette and had also worked at the Maple Ridge Hospital Admitting Department prior to retiring to Armstrong. Dorothy was active in the community, a member of Rebekah’s for over 30 years and a founding member of the Odd Fellows Hall Board and the Three Links Housing facility in Armstrong. She loved to quilt, crochet, knit socks, bake cookies, play the piano and sing. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2008, at the Odd Fellows Hall, Armstrong.
