David Ian Manly

April 27, 1945 – July 26, 2020
Born April 27, 1945 to Mary Jane (Whitelaw) and Harrington Manly in Moosejaw, Sask. Passed away on July 26, 2020 at Langley Hospice after a brave battle with metastasized cancer.
Dave was a 32 year veteran of the RCMP and Vancouver City Police serving in a career he loved. He was a deeply intelligent and sensitive police officer – advising recruits – “The purpose of police work is to make the machinery of society run smoother. Don’t ticket a mother going out in the middle of the night for baby formula because her car has an expired decal.”
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Lucienne (Lucy) and is buried next to his adored son Warren (1981-1988) at Langley Lawn Cemetery.

If you so wish, in this time of Covid, doing 3 nice things for First Responders in Dave’s memory would be appreciated.

Though nothing can bring back the hour
We will grieve not,
But instead take strength
In what must remain behind.
