It is with great sadness to announce that Dan Mooney of Port Alberni, BC passed away on the morning of Dec 31, 2017 at the age of 77 due to the effects of ALS.
Dan is survived by his wife Rose, son Alan & wife Vickey, grand-daughters Lisa & Shannon and his greatest gem, great grand-daughter Morgan Rose.
He was an active member of the Port Alberni Community and was involved for many years with AA, the Cancer Society, the Vancouver Island Faceters Guild and the Alberni Valley Rock & Gem Club.
Our whole family are amazed at the love and support that was shown to Dan in the past couple of years since he was diagnosed with ALS. It was a horrible disease that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, but those were the cards he was dealt.
Thank you to all his friends and relatives, the staff at West Coast General Hospital, VIHA Homecare workers, his evil Cousin Marty Wolfe and especially all the support from the ALS Society of BC!
A memorial tea will be held for all of Dan’s friends and family to attend on the 13th of January 2018 from 1 to 4 pm at the Kin Hut on Vimy St on the Alberni District Fall Fair grounds.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the ALS Society of BC or the Alberni Valley Hospice Society – Ty Watson House.
Goodbye Dad, we love you and you will always be in our hearts.
