Corey Duncan passed away peacefully on September 24, 2018 at the Golden Hospital, with family by her side, 6 days shy of her 90th birthday. She was born September 30, 1928 in Airdrie, Scotland. She met Alfred (Alfie) Duncan in Aberdeen when he returned to Scotland for a summer vacation. In 1955 she immigrated to Canada and moved to Ocean Falls BC to marry Alfie. In 1973 the family moved to Golden.
Corey embraced the community of Golden. She was well known around town and was appreciated for her sense of humour and her quick wit. In earlier years she was an avid golfer and a member of the Golden Golf Course. In later years she continued to golf but only her favourite holes. She was also a member of The Royal Purple, the United Church, The Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a regular with the ladies at the Golden Bakery for afternoon coffee.
Those that knew Corey would agree that she was an independent woman, who was strong willed and a fighter with a heart of gold. She is survived and will be missed by her sons Alan (Janice), Chuck (Darla), Keith (Radmila), John (Martha), 10 grandchildren; Karen (Andrew), Colin (Emma) David (Pam) Hali, Christopher, Robert, Thomas, Ian (Mary), Seth (Lindsay), and Evan, 5 Great Grandchildren Ruaridh, Isla, Neil, Niamh, and Atticus. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
The family is especially grateful to her friends, Anne and Ron Jack, of Scotland, and special friend, Kaye Jankovic of Golden. We would like to acknowledge Dr. Clark for the special care that was provided to Mom. She really loved her.
To Trish Bowness and all of the staff at Mountain View Lodge, we would like to say thank you for all the kindness and support that was given to Mom.
At Mom’s request there will be no service. She will to be returning to Scotland at a later date.
