Constance M. Morrison

Lyman Stewart Morrison

Mom passed away peacefully in the early hours of July 31, 2016, at the age of 91 years. On the eve of her passing she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren who spent the time reflecting on Mom’s life; many laughs and tears were shed over the hours. She was the matriarch of our small, but loving and close-knit family. Small in stature, her presence was always larger than life.

Connie was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba to Lilianne and Joseph Martin, the youngest of four children. She excelled in sports and academics, being awarded medals in skeet shooting, curling and speed skating. She was also an avid skier, often travelling by train to Quebec and Alberta to chase the fresh powder. Sports were always a source of enjoyment in her life. Upon moving to Sorrento from Calgary in 1972 she joined the Shuswap Lake Estates Ladies Golf League of which she remained a long-time member until she moved to Salmon Arm in 2003. Mom was a true competitor; it didn’t matter if it was golf, bridge, skiing or curling. Also, Mom was very passionate about her Church. No matter where she lived she was always an active member of the Catholic Women’s League as well as the Church choir.

Besides her family, Mom’s other passion was travelling. She and her many friends planned trips all over the world, and every year the family always looked forward to hearing where the next adventure would take them.

Mom is survived by her daughter Nadine, her son Wayne (Jackie) and grandchildren Leigh (Brad), Christopher and Amy (Justin). She was predeceased by her husband Ron, her parents, her brothers Pat and Paul, her sister Blanche and son-in-law Henry.

We would like to thank all the staff of Hillside Village Cottage 5 for their endless care and compassion. Mom’s last few days were made easier with their understanding and support. We would also like to thank our family and friends for being there for Mom. She could always count on a visit to brighten her day.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Saturday, August 13th, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. with Father George LaGrange OMI officiating. Luncheon to follow. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers Mom has requested that a donation be made in her name to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation, Box 265 Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4N3.
