LANE, Catherine Ellen
It is with great sadness, but with loving memories we announce the passing of Catherine Ellen Lane on June 12, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. Cathy will be missed by her husband Gary, her sons Michael (Tanya) and Dale Farrell and grandchildren Maezie, Angus and Capri. Also, her brother Brian (Kathy) Squair and family from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She will be lovingly remembered by her many relatives and friends from Canada, U.S.A. and Australia. She was predeceased by her son Christopher Farrell, husband Frank Farrell and husband John MacLean.
Cathy was born on August 1st, 1942 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Nancy and Frank Squair. She attended school in Winnipeg and graduated from Winnipeg General Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1964. She married Frank Farrell and soon after they moved to Saskatchewan. Their next moved was to Sechelt, BC and then on to the Lower Mainland.
Cathy and her second husband John MacLean moved to the Comox Valley in 1996 where they purchased a home in Crown Isle. Here she became an ardent golfer.
Cathy was always known for her infectious laughter. Her passion was Golf, either playing it or watching on TV. (Don’t tell her the winner before she watched the recording). She and husband Gary spent many happy hours on many different courses. She was a member of Crown Isle Ladies club and was past Club Captain. Another passion was meeting people so she volunteered at Comox Airport as well the Comox Valley Visitors Centre. Cathy also kept busy with Book Club, Dress Club, learning Bridge and traveling. Up until a few years ago she was a member of Pat Pantuso Dance Club. Always doing something.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matous, Dr. MacLean, Dr. Kind, the Nurses in Emergency and the Nurses of third floor of St. Josephs Hospital, Homecare Nurses and Homecare Aids from VIHA for their compassionate support and help. Thank you to the pharmacy at Pharmasave for the extraordinary service.
Flowers gratefully declined.
