Catherine Davis passed away on January 2, 2019, in Nanaimo, B.C., after battling cancer. She was surrounded by her family, friends, and loved ones in the last few weeks and hours of her time here. Cathy was born on January 10, 1956 at Craigtown hospital in Saint Andrews, Scotland. She grew up at Lawrence Drive, Leven Fife until she was twelve years old, when she emigrated to Canada with her family. Over the years, Cathy was an active member of the busking community, involved participant in local politics and friendly face in the downtown core of Nanaimo. Cathy was a talented musician with a long list of originals and covers. Most will remember Cathy for the beautiful songs and melodies she performed at the waterfront.
She was a loving friend, who provided warmth, humor and a good story. Cathy was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She raised five children alone but she did it with grace and style, in a unique manner that only she could provide.
She will be remembered by her loving children, Tess, Tricia, Kate, Morgan and Patrick, siblings Audrey and James, along with many grandchildren, countless friends and partner Johnny. As per her wishes, a celebration of life will be held in the spring at Swy-A-Lana Lagoon, with the sunshine, music and laughter of the Nanaimo community she loved so dearly.
