While at SFU, Carl became a Union activist working for the rights of his young fellow student teaching assistants. Carl had a keen mind and was a critical thinker who enjoyed discussing politics, current affairs and the state of the world. He was an avid reader whose interests ranged from fiction to fact and everything in between.

Carl was a man who could do anything. His passion for arts and design was none above. Many will remember his love of model airplanes and the endless hours he spent at the flying field in Merville BC. Carl was a hard worker who strived to do his best in all aspects of life. Also, many will remember the wonderful meals that Carl could prepare. Carl’s skills in the kitchen were second to none. Carl prepared many a feast for family and friends. Cooking a great meal gave Carl great pleasure.
