YATES, BRUCE WILLIAM
May 6, 1960 – December 9, 2014
It is with extraordinary sadness that we say, “Bruce is gone from us”. For 54 short years, he graced us with his presence but on December 9th, following his usual morning routine, he suffered cardiac arrest and despite efforts to bring him back to us, he could not be saved.
Left broken hearted, Kathy will forever hold her husband in her heart and as time goes by, not one day will pass without a favourite memory. Bruce was the quintessential father to Gordon (Nina), Michelle and Emily – his joy and spirit will continue to guide them. Bruce was a young and loving grandfather to Logan and Damon – they were the icing on the cake for him.
For parents Ron and Marilyn Yates and in-laws Bruce and Jackie McKay, letting go of a child is the worst thing that could happen to them and their hearts are darkened by sorrow.
Siblings Carolynne (Dan), Kelly (Joanne), Brenda (Neil), Leah (Jamie) and Lindsey are bewildered at the new landscape without their brother. Sisters-in-law Kelly (Mike), Kor (Brian) and Kris (Franklin) are equally shocked. This week, eighteen nieces and nephews are without their Uncle Bruce – hard to believe.
As we all try to comprehend this new world without Bruce, there are many good things to remember, many great memories to share. A kind and gentle man that never had a bad word to say about anyone. A loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend and co-worker, there are so many people that are reeling and struggling to come to terms with what has happened. If you were lucky enough to know him, then you probably loved him – we surely did.
We would like to thank Mike who was the first to jump in to try and help Bruce and the paramedics who worked so hard to try to bring him back to life. Words cannot express our gratitude. To all of the kind people at LMH who helped our family through a very difficult day and for giving us the time and space to say our goodbyes, thank you are the only words we have and they seem inadequate. A service will be held to celebrate a great guy Saturday, December 20th at 1 p.m. at the Kwantlen Cultural Centre – 23905 Gabriel Lane, Fort Langley.
