Bill Nixon passed away peacefully at the age of 93 at home on the morning of July 17. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Phyl, his son, Paul (Dar), and his daughter, Liz, his grandchildren, Elise (Glenn), Braden, Taylor and Jordan. Bill will also be lovingly remembered by his 4 sisters, Beth, Ruth (Ward), Vera and Bernice (Jim) and long-time family friend, Rosemarie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill’s wonderful caregivers, Fern, Liz, Diane, Verna and Emma will also remember their favourite patient with deep fondness. Bill (known as Delbert east of the Rockies) was born on the family farm near Amulet, Saskatchewan in 1914. After completing Normal School he taught in several one-room schools in Saskatchewan before joining the airforce in 1942. Upon his return from the war, Bill obtained his Education degree at UBC, then moved to Vernon with his family in 1950 to teach and then become the vice principal at Seaton School. Bill retired in 1976 after 26 years at Seaton and spent his days golfing, curling, enjoying time with his family at the lake and traveling back to his family farm in Saskatchewan. A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Valley Chapel on Monday, July 23 at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of:
