Berna Christine Scholey (Peters, nee Cutcher)

October 1, 1930 – June 3, 2021
Berna went to be with the Lord on June 3rd.
She is predeceased by husbands Barry Peters and Syd Scholey, parents Michael and Victoria Cutcher & brother Allen.
She leaves behind son Scott Peters (Mary) and grandchildren Holly & Sam; daughters Lisa Peters (Pedro) and Julia Peters (Jim), niece Margot & family, & nephews Glen and Ian.
Berna worked at the Vancouver Sun then stayed home to be a full-time wife and mother. In 1975 she became a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at Lion’s Gate Hospital North Vancouver, and Carinsmore Place, Duncan.
Berna’s life was focused on her family and her Anglican faith; she was an active member of St. Martin’s and St. Agnes Church in North Vancouver and St. Peter, Quamichan, participating in Christian education, pastoral care, and the Mother’s Union.
Berna enjoyed books and movies (especially science fiction) and knew the lyrics to so many songs that she’d sing as she buzzed around the house. She was a great cook, loved feeding people, and had visitors at the dinner table regularly.
Berna was a natural caregiver with a lot of compassion and love to give, resulting in a large circle of loyal friends and a family that will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Covenant House in Vancouver. Contact 250-204-7061 for service details (Zoom attendance an option).Obituary-
