It is with great sadness we announce the death of Ann Rankin at Quesnel Palliative Care Unit, Sunday August 28th, 2011.
Ann was born in the Isle of Man, UK on December 30th, 1929. In 1953 Ann married her life partner, Brian Rankin. After thirteen years of marriage Brian and Ann made the decision to embark on their most challenging journey, moving their family to Quesnel, B.C. There were many adjustments to life in Canada that Ann appeared to make with ease.
Ann was a loving mother who took great pleasure in
raising her family.
She enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. She made friends easily and was very involved in various community activities.
Ann was an avid reader, she also enjoyed her weekly games of bridge with the ladies with whom she had been friends for many years. Brian and Ann made many trips camping to remote forestry sites, one of her favorite places was Farwell Canyon in the Chilcotin.
Ann leaves behind her husband Brian of 58 years, daughters Sarah (Norm), Janet, Katy (Barry), and Anna (Fred).
Grandchildren, Richard, Joanne, Megan, Amber, Jake and Hannah, great grandchildren Claire, Elodie and Matthew.
Ann’s family would like to thank Dr. VanDyk and the staff at both G.R. Baker Memorial hospital and Quesnel Palliative Care for their compassionate care during the last weeks of her life.
Ann’s easy smile, her warmth and love will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
