March 16, 1930 – July 24, 2020
It is with deep sadness we announce that our beloved father went to be with his Lord and Saviour, surrounded by his wife & children. He was born Mar16/1930, in Kronau, Sask, the third son of Frederick & Emily Posehn. He was pre deceased by 3 siblings & is survived by his sister, Hilda Kershaw. He is also pre deceased by his son-in- law Audie Moore & his grandson Justin Moore.
Dad is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Elsie, daughters Arlone Moore, Linda Hearsey (Tom), Tammy Crosson (Dwayne) & his son Darrell (Monique). He was loved & respected by his grandchildren Jarrod Moore (Saramarie), Farrah Mayea (Brian), David Hearsey (Erika), Garrett Posehn(Anne-Marie), Marika Forge (Brendan), Avery Crosson (Quinlan) & Ty Crosson. Great grandchildren Reese, Rory, Mikhail, Monte, Cameron, Tanner, Rudy, & Charlotte.
Dad left his farming family in Saskatchewan in 1948 & followed his brother Albert, to Vancouver Island, at 18 yrs of age, where he quickly found work at Gray Motors. Alvin met the love of his life, Elsie in Duncan, they married & he became a family man.
With his drive to create a loving home, he took a job with Weston’s Bakery & became a bread truck delivery man. He was well known to the grocers in the Cowichan Valley. Eventually Dad had an opportunity to become his own boss & bought a floor laying business which he named Duncan Floor Installations. With his son Darrell, the business blossomed & his name became well known for quality & integrity.
Dad was also active in the Kinsmen Club for many years. Above all, his family & his church, were his hearts content to which he was deeply devoted.
He was a quiet man with a good sense of humour, true blue dedicated husband, father & grandfather. He possessed a green thumb & his passion to grow a bounty of vegetables & fruits to share with his family, every season, never ceased. His passing will leave a huge gap in our hearts & family circle. You were well loved Dad & you’ll never be forgotten.
Special thanks to Dr Gilbert, Dr Iftikhar, all those who cared for Dad at Cairnsmore Place & his team of caregivers at CDH.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Obituary-
