On August 2, 2018 Alec Popma passed from this life peacefully, to be with his Lord and Saviour at the age of 94.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Jenny, having shared almost 70 years of marriage. He is survived by his children Edie (Ron), Eric (Jen), Ron (Ruth), Joanne, Allan (Linda), Marilyn, Roy (Elaine). He is also survived by a quiver full of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sons-in-law, Co Van Leeuwen & Alan Dyck, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alec & Jenny immigrated to Canada in 1952 to realize his dream of dairy farming, unattainable in post-war Holland. Their dream became a reality, filled with faith, and endless hours of hard work & determination. They raised seven children, while farming in Matsqui & Sumas Prairie, and being involved in their community and church.
Retirement blessed them with travel & friendships forged at the fishing holes and in Palm Springs. The last years of declining health were spent in the loving care of Maplewood House.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 13, 11:00 am, at Henderson’s Fraser Valley Funeral Chapel in Abbotsford.
