Workplace fatality investigated

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP will assist the coroners officer and WorkSafe B.C. in the initial stages of an investigation into a workplace death in Armstrong Thursday.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP will assist the coroners officer and WorkSafe B.C. in the initial stages of an investigation into a workplace death in Armstrong Thursday.

A male youth, believed to be in his late teens, was electrocuted on the property of Nor-Val Rentals, in the 3000 block of Smith Drive, when, according to RCMP, the scissor lift machine he was operating at the business came into contact with overhead Hydro lines.

The youth was rushed to Vernon Jubilee Hospital but he died as a result of his injuries. The incident happened just after 11:30 a.m.

The victim’s name had not been released by RCMP prior to The Morning Star’s deadline.
