SURREY — A man was arrested after a 32-year-old woman was slashed with a  knife in Whalley early Saturday morning.

“Initial investigation has revealed that an altercation occurred between two individuals resulting in a stabbing,” said Surrey RCMP Staff Sergeant Joe Johal. “Officers conducted neighbourhood canvassing and spoke with several witnesses to obtain further information.”

Sergeant Alanna Dunlop said the victim and suspect, age 36, are acquaintances. The woman was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries that weren’t life threatening. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

It happened in the 13500-block of 90th Avenue, shortly before 1 a.m.
