The Williams Lake Fire Department has a new fire chief.

Erick Peterson, who has served on the Delta Fire Department for the past 15 years, will be taking on the role beginning July 3.

Peterson has a background in and is what the City of Williams Lake calls a “leader” in emergency planning, Emergency Social Services, public education, fire prevention and fire operations.

Deployed to Williams Lake by Emergency Management BC to assist in the Cariboo Regional District’s Emergency Operations Centre during the wildfires of 2017, Peterson will be relocating his family to the lakecity.

“The City of Williams Lake looks forward to welcoming Erick to his new position,” said Mayor Walt Cobb.

“We are fortunate to have someone of Erick’s calibre lead our fire department, and we are confident that his leadership will greatly benefit our community.”
