Wells Gray gets voice on provincial tourism council

Tourism Wells Gray marketing manager Stephanie Molina was recently appointed to the Minister’s Tourism Engagement Council, providing a local voice among some of the biggest organizations in the sector across the province.

“I feel very privileged to represent our community,” Molina said.

“I was pleasantly surprised and absolutely ecstatic about it; I feel like I’m still somewhat early on in my career in tourism, so it felt like a huge honour.”

The Minister’s Tourism Engagement Council was created June 1, 2018, as a way to bring communities, industry and government together on tourism-related policies and to give advice on issues facing the sector while informing the creation of B.C.’s tourism strategy.

Molina said she’s please to be a voice on the council and work to support the building of a strong and sustainable economy that will benefit all British Columbians.

“It also provides such a wonderful opportunity to really connect with the movers and shakers in the tourism industry that will provide invaluable personal knowledge for me, but also important connections that’ll benefit our community in the future,” she said.

“I think it’s important we really advocate for our industry and see how we can work with all of our partners provincially throughout the province to get the supports we need as a community that would benefit not only tourism here in Wells Gray Country, but for all British Columbians.”

Molina has 10 years experience in the communications and tourism sector combined, working in government relations and marketing before joining Tourism Wells Gray.

Working in tourism lets her use her past experiences in communications and combines her love for the area as well as her desire to see the community grow in a healthy sustainable way, she said.
