Environment Canada's special weather advisory for Ladysmith and the surrounding area issued early on Saturday has been lifted.

Environment Canada’s special weather advisory for Ladysmith and the surrounding area issued early on Saturday has been lifted.

The weather agency warned earlier in the afternoon of a ‘powerful storm’ approaching the BC coast tonight and Sunday.

A rainfall warning remained in effect for Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay as of 9 p.m.

The stretch of East Vancouver Island could see anywhere between 50 to 70 millimetres of rain by Monday.

“If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts,” Environment Canada noted.

Ladysmith could see upwards of 30 mm of rain during the day on Sunday.

To report severe weather, send an email to ec.tempetepacifique-pacificstorm.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
