SURREY — Surrey Mounties have arrested a suspect in the stabbing of a 25-year-old man in Whalley last Thursday night.

Steven Fayant, 23, of Port Coquitlam has been charged with aggravated assault and failing to comply with a bail condition.

He is expected to appear in Surrey provincial court on Thursday.

A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds after police found him in the 13300-block of Old Yale Road.

Meantime, police are also looking for a suspect in a stabbing that happened in Whalley on Sunday afternoon.

This one happened at about 4:50 p.m. near 100th Avenue and 132nd Street.

“We know who it is, we’ve just got to track him down,” Corporal Scotty Schumann said. The victim was stabbed inside a vehicle and has already been released from hospital.

Staff Sergeant Dale Carr said the Sunday stabbing was “a targeted altercation between two persons that are known to each other.”

Police are asking witnesses to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
