HIGHWAY 16 west of town is now open to one lane alternating traffic.

Earlier today, Terrace RCMP reported that the highway was blocked and closed in both directions due to a logging truck accident that spilled lumber onto the highway around noon about 8 km west of Kasiks, about 68 km from Terrace.

Police reported that a grader had been called out to see if it could move some of the lumber and open one lane of the highway to allow traffic to pass.

A tow truck was called to take the semi out of the way so the logs could be removed from the road.

The logging truck driver, who was the lone occupant in the truck, suffered minor injuries, said police.
