A fire at a house on 16th Street had emergency crews working hard at around 8 a.m. this morning (Jan. 23).
Crews blocked off much of the street as they battled the blaze. The Gazette have not heard from the fire department yet but reports on Facebook state that there are no injuries. Sources also say the residents were looking for people to care for their animals when displaced.
Assistant fire chief Kevin MacKinnon said the fire was likely electrical in nature. He said that most of the fire and smoke damage was in the attic. There was some water damage on the main floor.
Fire crews are still investigating.
