Update: Crews extinguish a fire at Sigurdson Forest Products Tuesday

A loader caught fire near stacks of lumber Tuesday afternoon

Update:

A small fire at Sigurdson Forest Products Ltd. was fully extinguished Tuesday afternoon.

On behalf of the company, Violet Sigurdson told the Tribune a loader caught fire near stacks of lumber on the southwest corner of the mill site.

“Some of the lumber was burned, but we got it all out and under control,” Sigurdson said, adding the Williams Lake Fire Department arrived and did an excellent job.

“No one was injured and everybody from the mill responded well.”

The Williams Lake Fire Department and RCMP are responding to a report of a fire at Sigurdson Forest Products Ltd.

Smoke is visible at the site, located at 1850 Douglas Road, near the Old Soda Creek Road.

Emergency crews responded to the report at approximately 3:50 p.m.
