Police were asking for help finding Seanna Randen, 14, but she has been located

UPDATE: The teen reported missing has been located and is safe and sound, according to a social media post from Nanaimo RCMP.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Nanaimo RCMP are hoping the public can help find a missing 14-year-old girl from south Nanaimo.

Seanna Randen was last seen in the morning hours on Dec. 17 as she was being dropped off at her school, according to Nanaimo RCMP, who did not disclose which school she attends.

Police say Randen has been texting family members “daily” but has not yet been located and that the situation is “out of character” for the teen. She is known to frequent Woodgrove Centre on a “daily basis” and her family is “extremely worried” for her well-being, according to police.

Randen is white, 5-foot-8 and 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing a purple Vancouver Island University hoodie, a black long sleeve shirt and black leggings. Police believe she may have also been wearing a black Adidas nylon windbreaker over her hoodie.

Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, told the News Bulletin he couldn’t disclose which school Randen attends for safety reasons, but that she does attend a school within the Nanaimo-Ladysmith school district. He also said police don’t believe there is a criminal element to Randen’s disappearance, but that she is still very much at risk.

“We don’t think there is anything suspicious about it,” O’Brien said. “I don’t think there is any criminality, she’s just refusing to come home, which puts her at extreme risk.”

Police would like to find Randen safe and sound before Christmas, O’Brien said, adding that if anyone does find her they should call the police immediately.

“Please don’t post it to social media,” he said. “Call our non-emergency line so we can get her home before Christmas.”

Anyone with information regarding Randen’s whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at or call 1-800-222-8477. Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram
