Three of the North Okanagan’s own stretches of pavement are in the running for B.C.’s worst road.
The narrow, winding curves of Silver Star Road are ranked first so far in the BCAA Worst Roads survey.
Westside Road has once again made the list, in fact it is listed three times (under Vernon, Kelowna and West Kelowna) in the second, third and sixth spot.
And Coldstream’s Cosen’s Bay Road is also in the running, sitting fourth on the list.
Voting ends Monday at www.bcaa.com/worstroads
“Roads that are jammed with traffic, full of damaging potholes or so deteriorated that you can barely see the road markings can be scary for anyone to use,” said Ken Cousin, BCAA’s associate vice-president of Road Assist.
“By voting, you can draw some attention to those unsafe or inefficient roads that frustrate you the most.”
Although Westside continues to make the list (it gained the top spot two years in a row) voters are urged to steer clear of the road.
North Westside representative Jim Edgson fears another poor ranking will force Ministry of Transportation crews to pack up and initiate projects elsewhere in B.C.
He says work is underway and the ministry is well aware of the concerns on the road.
Cousin adds: “We recognize that a lot of road work is underway throughout the province and that improvements take time.”
