The Transitional Training Class at Selkirk College in Grand Forks is part of the Adult Special Education department. This class aims to build on strengths and interests, identify and achieve goals, build self-awareness and learn to work with others, develop resources and support networks, and enhance employment readiness.
This year for a science project, the class studied bats and why they matter. Then the class built eight bat houses for sale to raise money for other class projects. The class is donating a bat house to the City of Grand Forks to install in City Park (thanks to James Traynor, pictured on ladder) so other people can observe and learn about these wonderful creatures.
The TT class is made up of Alex Nielsen, Brogan Beliveau, TJ Vanderniet, Chris Atkinson, Weny Dobler, Sara Doherty, Dena Wakabayashi, Amy Heaton and Anna Bach. The instructor this year is Sandy MacKelir.
