This should get you going today in Kelowna

Here are our Top 5 things to be thinking about this rainy Friday morning.

This should get you going today in Kelowna

1. As wave of wet weather comes our way from the coast places like Sooke on Vancouver Island will take the brunt of it. Just think of the rain here as the snow on the mountains we’ll be skiing on soon enough. It’s actually looking like a pretty nice day here. Around the time you’re waking up in Kelowna it’ll be about 7C, heating up to a balmy 14 by 2 p.m. with sun peaking out from behind clouds.

2. Speaking of skiing, have you switched to your winter tires. Oct. 1 was the date to have weather appropriate treads on your vehicle if you are going over mountain passes. When the temp in the Valley is dropping to 7C, yes that’s 7 above zero, it’s time to get your winter tires on.

3. Did you catch Peter Mansbridge’s interview with Gord Downie on CBC last night? Read about Downie and the fund he’s set up to help indigenous peoples, with plenty of dedicated folk on its board.

4. Internationally, there’s a great mash up of the speech Michelle Obama gave yesterday on the effect the latest revelations about Donald Trump has on women, compared to what ‘the Donald’ says.

5. On the sports scene, former Kelowna Rockets have gone on to have great pro hockey careers and the latest crop of graduates are no different. Look for Jamie Benn (Dallas), Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton), Mikael Backlund (Calgary) and Blake Comeau (Colorado) to contribute to their respective NHL teams.
