A domestic violence incident lead police to a robbery suspect on the weekend.
Mounties arrested a 20-year-old Nanaimo man Sunday after a victim of domestic violence suffered facial injuries requiring emergency surgery.
The suspect’s name cannot be released until Crown has formally sworn charges against him, but police are recommending he be charged with robbery for the B.C. Liquor Store robbery Jan. 10, aggravated assault for the domestic violence incident, plus break and enter and possession of a weapon in relation to a home invasion on Holly Avenue Jan. 31.
Police said evidence supporting grounds for the charges was found when police carried out search warrants at two separate residences in Nanaimo.
“While officers are pleased with the arrest of this person, they also realize there are at least two other individuals involved in the brazen robbery of the liquor store,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman. “Further arrests are expected soon.”
