Suspected poachers located with public’s help

Two people suspected of poaching a pregnant doe earlier this week have been located thanks to public assistance.

Two people suspected of killing a pregnant doe out of season have been located and an investigation is underway.

The local conservation officer is thanking the public for their assistance in located the truck that was spotted on the scene by a witness.

“We’d like to thank the public for their assistance. As a result of the tips received we have identified the two residents as the suspects,” said Jeff Hanratty, conservation officer in Penticton.

The suspects have yet to be charged, but the results of the investigation will be forwarded to the authorities.

“As a result of the tips, it was the public that helped us catch these guys,” Hanratty said.
