Terrace RCMP are looking for those responsible for stealing sports equipment from Thornhill Elementary School.

The custom made storage box, which the school raised money to purchase, was stolen last weekend. It was full of outdoor sports equipment for students to use outside, including hockey sticks and new baseball gear.

The six-foot long metal box was secured with bolts to the ground under the covered area near the ball field. It was last seen in the afternoon on April 27 at the school on Clark Street.

According to a social media post from the school’s secretary, the box has since been found, but with nothing left inside.

“The equipment stolen is vital to the children’s physical fitness education,” says Staff Sergeant Michael Robinson in a press release. “Whoever took it should feel ashamed and return it to its rightful owners – the children of Thornhill Elementary School.”

Anyone with information on who took the box is asked to contact the Terrace RCMP at (250)638-7400 and reference file number 19-4047. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at www.terracecrimestoppers.ca.
