Sooke sells off Lot A logs

Money from sale will go to community grants fund

The District of Sooke will sell all the raw logs logged off Lot A to Roger van Kempenseket for $1,504.

There was just one bid for the wood.

The 250 cubic metres of scaled raw alder logs must be removed from the public works yard by March 1.

The logs were logged from the district-owned Wadams Way property last summer due to safety concerns.

The district first offered the logs to non-profit groups in Sooke, but when there were no offers, council decided to seek public bids.

All proceeds from the sale of the logs will go to the district’s grants fund to

help community groups.
