Small single tree fire near Big Lake under control

In mop up and patrol stage today

A small 0.01 hectare fire near Big Lake discovered Tuesday, June 26, is under control according to the BC Wildfire Service.

The fire looks to be a single tree lightning spot fire, said a information officer with the BC Wildfire Service.

The suspected cause was lightning, and today crews are working on mop up and patrol.

An air tanker heard headed out over the Lakecity on Wednesday afternoon was heading towards the Prince George Fire Centre, said Robin Clark, a fire information officer with the service.

The tanker is usually stationed in Williams Lake, but will be used on one of the fires in the Prince George region until its return to the lakecity.
