Silver Fox run raised money for cancer research

The run, taking place at Halcyon House in Nakusp, was the first of its kind for the assisted living facility.

On September 29, Halcyon Assisted Living Society held the first annual Silver Fox Run at Halcyon House.

The group’s activity director Judy Adams came forward with the idea to host this event for seniors in the community. She thought it would be a great way to get seniors involved in our community while promoting activity in seniors and raising money for cancer research for the Terry Fox Run.

The day started with a fun walk, run, scoot, wheelchair down the water front and then returned to Halcyon House for a barbecue by donation, with all funds going to the Terry Fox Foundation. Many members of the community joined in the fun, including residents of Halcyon House, the Rotary, and Minto House.

At the end of the day a total of $608.25 was raised for cancer research. The society will continue to host this event annually, and hopes that more and more community members come out and participate in this worthy cause.
