Saanich police officers are looking to return more than $50,000 in stolen property to their rightful owners after a five-day investigation led them to the stash at two Victoria homes.
The investigation began June 29 after a break-in in the 1600-block of Knight Ave. Computers, jewelry and cash were stolen from the home, said Staff Sgt. Scott Treble.
“An outside surveillance camera at the home captured high-quality images of two suspicious men,” Treble said. The next morning, Victoria police and parole officers viewed the footage and recognized one of the men as a provincial offender inmate, on day parole for convictions including robbery and aggravated assault, Treble said.
Two suspects were arrested by police on June 30 and July 2.
Two search warrants were also executed in Victoria in the 500-block of Johnson St. and the 1600-block of Cook St., where about $50,000 in stolen property was recovered.
Blaine Kevin Isherwood, 20, and Eric Sheldon Hambleton, 25, appeared in Victoria Provincial Court this afternoon on charges of break, enter and theft and theft over $5,000.
