Ridge RCMP are giving out candy canes at local elementary schools in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

Ridge Meadows RCMP continue with the tradition of spreading good will amongst members of the community.

Local police will go to senior care homes and events and perform Christmas carol sing-a-longs.

Police will also visit a number of elementary schools in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows to meet students, and offer sweet treats.

“For many years, both current police officers, along with some retired police and civilian staff have reached out to senior citizens,” said Insp. Jennifer Hyland said. “While we still look forward to visiting with these folks, Ridge Meadows RCMP want to engage with youth in the community, and this is an excellent opportunity to do just that.”

On Thursday, several officers handed out candy kanas during recess at Kanaka Creek elementary.

RCMP plan to repeat that at elementary schools until Dec. 16, when public schools begin their holiday break.

” So, you’d better be good.”
