Searchers from Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue, along with help from CFB Comox and Comox Valley RCMP continue Tuesday evening to search Mount Albert Edward for two hikers from Victoria.
The Victoria-based hikers — Christopher Yao, 31 and Jean-Simon Lessard, 22 —left Friday and were scheduled to return Sunday.
They were reported missing Monday afternoon when they failed to return to university and CFB Esquimalt respectively.
More than 30 searchers and 14 teams in the field took to find the pair, who are considered to be healthy and prepared with a tent.
Paul Berry, search manager for CVGSAR, told media heavy snow and thick fog have made the search difficult for both air and ground crews searching the area.
Mount Albert Edward, at 2,093 m, is the sixth highest peak on the Island and is located in Strathcona Provincial Park.
