Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect in a hit-and-run incident Friday.

Oceanside RCMP say at 3:40 p.m. Friday they received a report of a hit and run that occurred in front of the A&W Restaurant. Police say a 14-year-old male was riding his bicycle in front of the restaurant when he was hit by a car. The youth believed the driver saw him, but as he crossed in front of the vehicle, it struck him. The young man received minor injuries to his knees and the palms of his hands. The driver of the vehicle did not stop and offer assistance or his identity, say police.

Although no license plate was obtained, police say the vehicle was described as a light blue Toyota Camry or Corolla, driven by an elderly Caucasian male approximately 60-70 years old. He was described as balding, with grey hair around the back of his head. There were no passengers in the vehicle.

Police are asking anyone with  information about this incident to call Const. Gray at the Oceanside RCMP (250-248-6111).
