100 Mile House RCMP responded to 67 calls for service during the past week. Some highlights are as follows:
Fled from RCMP
On Sept. 10, Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services conducted patrols on the 300 block of Highway 97.
A member observed an off-road motorcycle travelling southbound on the highway. The member attempted to stop the motorcycle driver who refused to pull over and fled from police.
The motorcycle and rider were subsequently located on Alder Avenue and the driver did not attempt to flee. He was arrested for flight from police.
The driver showed signs of alcohol consumption and was given a roadside breath test, which resulted in a “fail” reading.
A search of his backpack resulted in the seizure of a prohibited firearm and queries about the motorcycle revealed it had been stolen from the Lone Butte area in 2005.
The 43-year-old 100 Mile House man was arrested and will be facing charges of flight from police, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of stolen property, breach of probation, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
He was also issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition (IRP).
Failed breath test
On Sept. 10, 100 Mile House RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver leaving a business in the downtown area.
Police were able to locate the vehicle on Exeter Station Road and stopped it. The driver showed signs of alcohol consumption and was given a roadside breath test, which resulted in a “fail” reading.
The driver was issued a 90-day IRP and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On Sept. 9, RCMP received a report of a theft from a property on the 100 block of Exeter Station Road.
A truck battery from a vehicle had been taken and a chainsaw was stolen. A lock on an enclosed trailer had also been damaged.
On Sept. 8, RCMP received a report of a theft from a business located on the 300 block of Highway 97.
Sometime during the last three weeks four ATV tires and two chainsaws were taken from a locked compound on the business property.
On Sept. 8, Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services members from Williams Lake and 100 Mile House conducted a check stop on Canim Hendrix Lake Road.
More than 100 vehicles were checked.
Violation tickets were issued to two drivers who had no insurance on their vehicles, one driver who didn’t have a valid driver’s licence. Other notices were issued for vehicle defects.
