Police Beat: Parking lot robbery

Police are still investigating after a man reported being robbed by five other men in the parking lot of Centenoka Park Mall on March 30 at 2:24 p.m. The 52-year-old victim reported that the men got out of a black car, one of them punched him in the face, then they took his wallet and some prescription drugs he had just obtained.

Police report the incident was drug related and targeted.



The nose knows

A police dog tracked down four suspects accused of lighting a fire in a garbage can and on the field of Shuswap Middle School April 3.

The fire was reported at 12:25 a.m., when the fires were discovered. A police dog and handler were called in and the dog led police to four youth who were found at 8th Avenue SE near 30th Street. The four youth were taken into custody and later released to their guardians.

Two of the youth are 15 and two are 16-years-old. All four are facing charges of criminal mischief.

Public drunkenness

Four women were held in Salmon Arm cells until sober after complaints of the group being drunk in McGuire Lake Park on April 2 at 5:40 p.m. Police responded and walked through the park, but the group could not be found.

At 7 p.m., an intoxicated female was reported at the Shell Select sitting on a picnic table. Police attended and located an extremely intoxicated woman who was wearing no shoes. Two other intoxicated females were then discovered drinking near the pay phone and a fourth was found a short distance away.



Cans set alight

Two small fires were reported April 2 at 3:15 a.m. The first was near Beatty Avenue/Marine Park Drive and the other near the mailboxes at 5th Street/Auto Road SE. In each case an aerosol can was found ignited. The fires were easily put out, no damage was incurred.
