Parksville council has announced they will offer the city-owned lands on Jensen Avenue West and Alberni Highway for sale for $2.5 million.

The properties include 206, 110, 114, 120, 126, 132 and 140 Jensen Avenue West and 212 Alberni Highway. In order to inform the public of this pending sale, council voted to rise and report on this decision.

During the next few weeks, city staff will prepare the legal notice and offer the lands for sale by way of bids from interested parties.

The information package prepared by staff will include land use regulations and details about the lands being offered for sale. The lands will be offered for sale as a parcel for the $2.5M.

The offers received will be presented to council for consideration in a future closed meeting. There will be no public opening of the offers. Consideration may be given to the proposed development concept in addition to the final price offered.

The lands were acquired by the City of Parksville over many years and provide a prime opportunity for an interested developer to construct a high quality gateway development.

Council is aware of a potential shortage of parking in the downtown core and is exploring options to develop additional formal parking adjacent to the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre (100 Jensen Avenue East).
