A series of meetings  and a number of public engagement opportunities are being held in 2017 to discuss the future governance model for Area C.

A panel of local community stakeholders, including a representative from the South Shuswap Chamber of Commerce, meets every few months to explore:

• the current governance model within the regional district;

• how incorporation would look in comparison to the current governance model;

• how dividing Area C into three electoral areas with a director for each would look

• maintaining the status quo, ie leaving the governance model as it currently stands.

The next Governance Committee meeting for Area C, which is open to the general public, will be held at Carlin Hall on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The South Shuswap Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting is held Feb. 23.

The meeting will take place at the Cedar Heights Community Centre 2316 Lakeview Drive, Blind Bay on Feb. 23.

There will be  wine and cheese from 6:30 to 7 p.m., with the meeting starting shortly afterward.

If you are interested in running as a director for the South Shuswap Chamber, please contact Chamber GM Karen Brown at:  manager@southshuswapchamber.com
