Repairs at the Enderby Arena don’t come cheap.
The Enderby and District Services Commission will spend $125,000 on a replacement chiller for the arena.
“We’d be run out of town if we ignored it. It’s a pretty popular facility,” said director Brad Case.
In September, 2014, a breakdown in the chiller was discovered and a contractor was able to install a temporary fix.
It’s hoped the existing chiller will continue operating for the remainder of the current ice season.
“As there is considerable lead time required for fabrication, the order needs to be placed soon so the next season is not affected,” said Jennifer Bellamy, chief financial officer.
While there are funds to replace the chiller, the services commission has also filed an insurance claim.
“We didn’t get full life out of the chiller’s warranty so we hope to get some money back,” said director Herman Halvorson.
