Marc Norris takes over fire chief’s job in Parksville on March 1

The city also announced that Keeva Kehler will be the new director of administrative services

With the retirement of Doug Banks coming in February, Deputy Chief Marc Norris has been promoted to chief of the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department effective March 1.

Norris joined the PVFD in 1990 as a junior member, working as firefighter leading to a promotion to lieutenant in 2001. In 2002, he became the full time career deputy chief responsible for training and fire prevention. Since 2002, Norris has taken a series of courses related to fire officer training and at this time, is completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire and Emergency Services Administration.

Norris will be the second Parksville fire chief in his family; his father Paul Norris was the fire chief from 1985 to 1989, prior to the promotion of Banks in 1989.

The city also announced this week that Keeva Kehler has been promoted to the position of director of administrative services, a position that became open when Debbie Comis was promoted to the position of chief administrative officer to replace the retiring Fred Manson. Keeva joined the City in May 2012 as manager of current planning.
