An Abbotsford man has been charged with several sex offences after disturbing images were allegedly found on a computer that had been sold.

Jonathan Grunwald, 52, was arrested after the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) received a laptop on Aug. 27 that had recently been purchased through an online advertisement.

The new owner found the images on the computer and contacted police.

Const. Ian MacDonald said APD investigators examined the laptop and located images of child sexual abuse. They then located the former owner.

Grunwald has now been charged with sexual assault of a person under the age of 16, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, making child pornography and possession of child porn. He has no prior criminal record.

MacDonald said he could not release any specific details of the alleged crimes.

The APD major crime unit is continuing to investigate. MacDonald said the child victim who has been identified is safe, and support has been provided for them and their family.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the APD at 604-859-5225, text abbypd (222973) or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
