Local resident wins regional logo design competition

A Vanderhoof resident has been chosen as the winner of a competition to design a logo for the Bulkley-Stuart-Nechako Farmers’ Markets.

A Vanderhoof resident has been chosen as the winner of a competition to design a logo for the Bulkley-Stuart-Nechako Farmers’ Markets.

The competition came about after the Regional District of Bulkley Nechako (RDBN) decided to assist regional farmers markets with maintaining and expanding their markets. As a result the RDBN decided to run a competition to create a common logo for signage for a group of eight different markets.

The markets included are: the Bulkley Valley Market (Smithers), the Pleasant Valley Market (Houston), Lakes Public Market (Burns Lake), the Heritage Market, (Burns Lake), the Southside Market (south side of Francois Lake), the Fort Fraser Farmers’ Market, the Vanderhoof Farmers’ Market and the Fort St. James Farmers’ Market.

Each market ran a contest and submitted their winning logo. The RDBN Board of Directors then choose the winning logo.

Jeremy Blattner from Vanderhoof came out on top and won the $500 prize.

The Nechako Kitimaat Development Fund Society along with the Omineca Beetle Action Coalition are funding the project. The signage project will consist of: highway signs, a banner at the market, posters, the times and locations of all the markets, and  upgrading the RDBN website to include the markets.
